In an effort to help patrons with their everyday lives even more, Little Dixie Regional Libraries (LDRL) is now offering forehead thermometers, blood pressure cuffs, weight scales, and pulse oximeters for checkout.
Each health related item is available at all the Moberly, Madison, Paris, and Huntsville branches within Randolph and Monroe Counties and have a two week check out time.
The new additions are perfect for patrons who wish to take an active role in managing their health or want more information about their own body. The library encourages patrons to check out these items for chronic illnesses they are trying to manage, to learn about a new diagnosis, before and after a doctor’s appointment or to learn more about their own health.
By offering these items, devices like blood pressure monitors and thermometers do not substitute professional medical care. No health device from the library should be used for diagnostic or emergency use. Library staff cannot provide medical advice.
Health items for circulation were purchased through a $2,500 grant from the Missouri Library Association. Recognition of the grant was given during the 2023 Awards banquet where LDRL Received “Library of the Year.”
