Lilly says, “It’s been a couple of years since I’ve read “What Happens After Midnight” but the story has stuck with me. It’s an exciting young adult romance about senior year of high school and pulling an elaborate senior prank. It kept me hooked and was a fun read overall. It’s perfect for fans of Jenny Han. K.L. Walther is easily one of my favorite authors and I will read anything she comes out with.

LDRL Recommends: A Woman of No Importance by Sonia Purnell
    Staff Member: Celeste

Celeste says, “I found the story of Virginia Hall of Baltimore, who became a masterful spy in World War II, really fascinating. She was often overlooked, as a woman and because of her prosthetic leg, but she was determined to contribute. The relationships she formed and the networks she created helped with the French Resistance. Most of the people were just normal people with normal jobs who made a huge impact in the fight for freedom. Virginia was at the center of so many things and all kinds of people came to her for help, yet she was also alone and isolated due to the secrecy of her mission. It is a great story of an unlikely heroine.”

LDRL Recommends: Cheated: The Inside Story of the Astros Scandal and a Colorful History of Sign Stealing by Andy Martino
    Staff member: Taylor

Taylor says, “I’ve recently gotten really into reading about niche crimes, including everything from stolen bird feathers to forged absinthe. My latest read, Cheated, definitely scratches that same itch! Martino goes through the history of baseball cheating scandals in a way that is still interesting to people who only catch the occasional game (like me!). The wild characters, unbelievable schemes, and quick writing style will give lifelong fans and rookies alike a whole new appreciation of America’s pastime.”

LDRL Recommends: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
    Staff member: Kylene

Kylene says, “Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir truly has something for almost everyone. It’s a thrilling space adventure that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very last page. I don’t want to reveal too much, but you can’t help rooting for the main character as he works diligently to prevent a mass extinction on Earth. I routinely recommend it to library patrons looking for a great story!”

LDRL Recommends: Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
    Staff member: Melissa

Melissa says, “I love psychological thrillers and this one kept me guessing until the final chapter!
I usually figure out a book’s twist long before reaching the end, but this one surprised me.
Everyone I’ve ever recommended The Silent Patient to has enjoyed it and its unexpected finale.
I read it a few years ago, but it’s a book I still think about to this day.”
